In a League of it's own

This year the Darwin International Laksa Festival introduced a new online game – the Laksa League! 

The League helped spice up the month-long food tour experience and made it easier for laksa enthusiast to find and the taste as many of the 120 laksa and laksa inspired by dishes submitted as part of the Festival. 

By joining the Laksa League, players could complete tasks to earn points, climb the leader board, win a range of amazing prizes and have the ultimate bragging rights amongst their laksa-loving peers!

More than 1,800 people joined the league and as the shoulder season begun, - the game provided a substantial boost for participating hospitality venues during a traditionally quieter period of trading. 

The competition between Laksa League players was hot and fierce. Alas, only one player could be crowned as the 2023 Laksa League champion. It was a relentless battle between the top six players with username Pants coming in at sixth place, seeing them take home a voucher for a Darwin Harbour Sunset Cruise for two people, thanks to Darwin Harbour Cruises.  

In fifth place was Leo, winning an exciting Darwin Waterfront Adventure Package courtesy of Darwin Waterfront and Adina Apartment Hotel. 

In fourth place was Mel, winning one of the most daring prizes – a Casino Royal Jet Ski Adventure for two thanks to 00Seven Adventures.

With a spot on the podium, in third place was alanw, they ended the game with 49,225 points and won themselves a $500 Casuarina Square Voucher courtesy of Casuarina Square

Just missing out on the top spot was joy_d – this player’s incredible laksa eating efforts earned them second place on 51,175 points taking home a Darwin Harbour Sunset Cruise for four people, courtesy of Darwin Harbour Cruises. 

Finally, it is time to announce our 2023 Laksa League Champion. Our fearless winner tasted over 100 dishes, checked in to 99 venues and earned an unbelievable 54,600 points –let’s give a round of applause to the 2023 Laksa League Champion… jleight!

As well as the ultimate bragging rights, jleight took home the top prize – a return trip to Cairns plus nights’ accommodation for them and a friend, thanks to  Airnorth and Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort.
