YUMMO! Laksa Festival

Our first pop-up festival, YUMMO! Laksa Festival, at Molly Rose Brewery in Collingwood was a delicious success!

Close to 1,000 laksa lovers braved the Melbourne winter to try the best laksa Melbourne and Darwin had to offer. There were loads of laksas, laksa inspired-by dishes and even laksa inspired-by beer and gin for attendees to enjoy.

Darwin International Laksa Festival hero and local legend Jason Chin from Chok's Place served up his award-winning BBQ pork and chicken laksa - and was a clear favourite of the crowd.

Melbourne's culinary talent was also well-presented, with Chef Mischa Tropp from Toddy Shop and the team from Molly Rose Brewery adding their laksa inspired-by items with a delicious butter chicken laksa and laksa loaded wings and fries!

Visitors could participate in a laksa-eating competition, watch free cooking demonstrations on making the perfect laksa paste, and even join a laksa-inspired gin masterclass led by Molly Rose's founder and brewer, Nic Sandery.

Melburnians warmly embraced the event with all of the laksa sold out by the end of the day. This enthusiastic response has us thinking...where should we pop-up next?

Wherever we go, there is only one true laksa festival - and that's right here in Darwin from 1 October 2024!
