Laksa Fest: Week 2 Recap

The Darwin International Laksa Festival is now in full swing, and the competition in the Laksa League has reached near boiling point. As we enter week two, more than 400 new players have joined the League, bringing even more Laksa Love into the community. With over 1,800  participants tasting, reviewing, and voting on their favourite dishes, the race to be crowned Laksa League champion is more intense than ever.

James S has made a remarkable leap to the top of the overall leaderboard, skyrocketing from third to first after a stellar week. His impressive points boost came from winning the photo competition and earning some badges, bringing his total to a whopping 28,881 points. But the competition isn't far behind — Leanne, who held the top spot last week, has now slipped into second place, trailing James by just 300 points. She’s not letting up though,and continues to be a formidable contender. Meanwhile, @nt has secured third place with 23,605 points, adding even more spice to the leaderboard.

The top five are locked in a fierce battle, furiously slurping down laksa bowls in their quest for glory. It's been a thrilling contest to watch!

In Alice Springs, Princessbob leads the pack with 6,355 points, but Golden Laksa Queen is hot on her heels with 6,027 points. Meanwhile, Katherine’s Annika is dominating her region with 9,079 points, followed by the maestro Staceyling-ling, who’s been making her own mark with 3,825 points.

Laksa Fever is truly in full effect, with over 750 reviews and 560 check-ins submitted in the past week. The trending dishes this week include the Chicken Laksa Pie from Ben's Bakehouse, Outback Bakery with their own Chicken Laks Pie, alongside the laksa bowls from Rendezvous Cafe and Mary's Laksa — names that need no introduction among Darwin’s spicy soup aficionados.

The highest-rated dishes so far (with a minimum of 15 reviews) are:

1. “The Outback Laksa” from The Meeting Place Cafe, with a stellar rating of 4.89
2. “Assam Laksa” from Makan Stop, rated 4.8
3. “Chicken & Prawn Laksa” from Chok's Place, rated 4.75
